Identities and boundaries: religious dynamics

Religions are a part of the dynamics of urbanization and metropolization, the new experiences of the local, the transnational and the global, the remodeling of geographical and symbolic boundaries, the tensions between differentiation and homogenization, the new configurations of citizenship (between the particular and the universal), the processes of inclusion and exclusion, the policies of hospitality. In other words, religions are not only an eroding traditional substratum; they participate in the construction of intercultural maps of identities, in contexts of transit and transaction, resistance and and imagination.
